MORO VILLAGE

MINDANAO

A vintage postcard of MINDANAO,  probably a village around Lake Lanao. This was auctioned by L&J Bonsay Antiques and Collectables that I bid.  But someone has outbid me.

I only joined the bid hoping to win this simply for a sentimental reason, being a former resident there.

BANDILA: WATAWAT NG KALAYAAN

12 June 2024

Hahabol talaga si Manang Inday.

The short verse below was recited by me during a July 4th, Philippine Independence Day at Karomatan, Lanao del Norte (Mindanao) during the Community Independence Day Program after the Parade. Wala pang entablado noong araw. Ginawa nilang makeshift stage was a long sturdy table fitted with microphone stand and a speaker. I remember my late father in his crisp military uniform watching me in the audience as I delivered my micro speech with joy on his face.

I love that memory.

Pilipinas Kong Mahal, que pasa?

Posted at PSCS

PILIPINAS KONG HIRANG

12 June 2024

The Philippine national anthem, known as "Lupang Hinirang," was composed in 1898 by Julian Felipe with lyrics written in Spanish by José Palma. It was officially adopted as the national anthem in 1956.

The anthem reflects the patriotic spirit and love for the homeland of the Filipino people. Its solemn melody and poignant lyrics evoke a sense of unity and pride among all Filipinos. Over the years, "Lupang Hinirang" has become a symbol of Filipino identity and resilience, especially during times of struggle and triumph.

The history of the Philippine hymn is deeply intertwined with the country's journey towards independence and sovereignty. Its significance lies not only in its musical and lyrical composition but also in the emotions and values it represents.

Antipolo by Carlos "Botong" Francisco

In keeping with My Stamps & Postcards Today

I remember the program long decades ago which promoted "TANGKILIKIN ANG SARILING ATIN."

Meanwhile the brainchild behind it lived in the lap of luxury surrounded by their "BRAND-IES".

Per post by Amy Lopez of PSCS

This Pearl Fishing stamp is part of the set described by a Linns article as "Arguably the most attractive Philippines’ stamps issued under U.S. administration are in the pictorial set of 14 (Scott 383-396) released Feb. 15, 1935"

Pearls in Philippine History

⚪️The Pearl of Lao Tzu (1934), The Palawan Princess (2009), and The Pearl of Puerto Princesa (2016) are three of the world’s largest natural pearls, all discovered in the Philippines.

⚪️In his last poem, “Mi Ultimo Adios” (1896), Dr. Jose Rizal addressed the Philippines as the “Pearl of the Orient Seas”.
(Adios, Patria adorada, region del sol querida,
Perla del Mar de Oriente, nuestro perdido Eden!)

⚪️"Perlas ng Silanganan" was mentioned in the very first line of our national anthem, Lupang Hinirang.

⚪️The pinctada maxima oyster and south sea pearl are depicted on the reverse side of the Philippine New Generation Currency Series 1,000-peso bill.

⚪️President Fidel V. Ramos issued Proclamation No. 905 on October 15, 1996, declaring the Philippine Pearl, also known as the South Sea Pearl, as the National Gem of the Philippines.

PHILIPPINE BIRDS

From the Album pre-template procured from Prospect Coins and Stamps Blacktown NSW

With so many things on my plate... These Philippine birds can't help, but help themselves with Australian birds seeds.

Birds in nature are purposed to help balanced the ecosystem.

As seed dispersers, they're best known as Forest workers.

They plant trees and flowers and are responsible pollinators besides the bees.

They're also a natural pest controller, but at times, they cause bird pest too.

Let's help them habituate where they should, and not harm them. Humans are given the task since creation that they should take care of these wonderful creatures.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️.  You have no idea how much the Pharmacy Stamp means to me.

Kind thoughts immensely appreciated.

Judge 😉 😜 😘

I finally got one!

"when one little squirt said – call me a fool,

but I don’t want to hang around with you all day –

so he left the others and swam his own sweet way."

(Extracted from Ten Little Tadpoles by Joanna of Miss Marple's Musings)

My take:
This froggy in my opinion only leaps once in every four years.  That would justify the "Leap Year" stunt.

Di ba Judge?  Salamuch gyud kaayo.  ❤️ 💙 💜
